Goolwa Beach Public Spaces

Published on May 20, 2021

The Alexandrina Council has received funding in the 2020/2021 Open Space and Places for People grants.

The grants give councils the opportunity to plan, purchase, and enhance public open spaces in both metropolitan and regional South Australia.

The projects are jointly funded by the State Government, through the Planning and Development Fund, and the local councils.

$22.3 million was available for allocation to projects nominated by local councils.

The Member for Finniss, the Hon David Basham MP, stated that, “the Alexandrina Council has received funding of $995,000 from the Places for People grant to upgrade the Goolwa Beach Public Spaces.”

“The Marshall Liberal Government has funded half of this $2,040,000 project in order to allow the creation of greater local jobs.”

“This upgraded public space will allow the local community to meet, play, and exercise in an area with the best facilities possible.”

“I would like to thank the Marshall Liberal Government for this grant as 74 projects were put forward for consideration by 43 councils and only 27 projects were awarded funding.”

“The Goolwa community is fortunate to have such great cooperation between its Local and State Governments and I encourage all Goolwa residents and visitors to reap the benefits that this project will provide.”
