Published on Dec 22, 2021

In the Electorate of Finniss, innovation and business are celebrated.

The Hon. David Basham MP was invited to meet with the innovative owners of egriTech Pty Ltd.

egriTech engineering is already known in the region for its excellent design and manufacture of fire fighter trailers, custom trailers and more recently Chicken Campers. The purpose of Hon. David Basham MP visiting was to learn more about the SHEDshack TinyHouses.

Tony and Kate Le Messurier conducted a tour of the first, newly completed small home designed by Kate. The portable home is heading to Victoria for a father wishing to live close to his daughter. The product is proudly and completely designed, manufactured and marketed in Victor Harbor.

The compact home is fully insulated, includes a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom, can be easily transported by road, and add-ons to make it self sufficient off grid are available.

“This locally made product may be an exciting contributor to the housing and tourism sector” Said Hon David Basham MP.

“Sustainable, best practice agriculture is an important driver in this electorate and a better livestock environment will lead to a better product” Said Hon David Basham MP.

CoopeCabana Chicken Camper is an enclosed roosting construction that is powered by solar and enables poultry livestock to be free rage but have roosting and laying security. The doors open and shut with the sun to support chickens roosting as sunset approaches.

Manufactured to order, the Chicken campers are used to house 8,500 chickens that lay Mrs Cluck free range eggs.

More than 300 fire trailers have been sold interstate and nationally in the last two years and the company, proudly employs seven staff including two apprentices and three long term unemployed.

“Today we celebrate that you can manufacture in regional areas, you can compete nationally and you can hire apprentices and the long term unemployed.” Said Mr Messurier.
