David is currently in his second term as Member for Finniss after initially being elected in the 2018 state elections. He worked in Government to put our region and community on the big stage, securing more funding and development for the electorate than ever before! David was appointed to Cabinet as Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development in 2020 until March 2022 where he passionately advocated and ensured regional development, agriculture, forestry, and primary industries like fishing and farming had a voice. David is now in opposition and will be an active voice for the electorate of Finniss for this term of government.

A calm, collected and methodical leader, David understands the importance of advocacy and the power of working together with communities to build a stronger foundation for our regions. A true local born and raised in the area, David has very deep knowledge and a sense of authenticity of how our electorate and regions can look outside the box in a futuristic way, advancing our quality of living and economy in the process. He continues to live in the community with his wife and 3 daughters, being actively involved and engaged in the day to day lifestyle of the area.

Being true to this word, David has ensured more funding was secured for the electorate of Finniss than ever before! His accomplishments include advocating and supporting community groups and sports clubs with infrastructure upgrades, promoting road safety, ensuring heavy investment in education, increasing tourism and economic growth, and putting our beautiful environment to the front.

Before being elected to the House of Assembly, David spent his time exploring different avenues of leadership, community development and growth in regional business. Being heavily involved in the dairy industry, David formed the Fleurieu Dairy Farmers’ Collective Bargaining Group and achieved revolutionary changes that had a lasting impact nationwide. He served as the President of the South Australian Dairy Farmers Association and then advanced to becoming the President of the Australian Dairy Farmers. David has also worked in the Animal Welfare space nationally, among a long list of career accomplishments.
