Fleurieu Women's Community Awards

Published on Feb 01, 2023

Nominations are now open for the Fleurieu Women's Community Awards. This wonderful event is now in its tenth year and I enjoy working in conjunction with VIEW club organisers to raise awareness for International Women's Day and celebrate some of our local contributors.

Please help the event and VIEW club by telling us about a person you feel represents community women and whose achievements should be celebrated as part of International Women's Day.

The Fleurieu Women's Community awards recognise women who have, or are, making an outstanding contribution in the local community. It may be women who have inspired others through their achievements or conduct.

I look forward to celebrating with the 2023 recipients on Friday March 10 at the Roos Club for 7.30am Breakfast. It will be great to be able to celebrate together again.

2023 Fleurieu Women's Community Awards

The VIEW (voice, interests and education of women) Club in conjunction with David Basham MP from the Electorate Office of Finniss, are thrilled to present the International Women’s Day Breakfast and Fleurieu Women’s Community Awards on Friday 10 March at the Roos Club, Victor Harbor.

Running for a tenth year, this event aims to draw awareness to International Women’s Day and provide an opportunity for the community to share a meal and celebrate outstanding and inspirational local women.

Funds raised will contribute to a charity of the VIEW clubs’ choosing after the event and in the past The Smith Family and Fleurieu Community Foundation have been worthy recipients.

International Women’s Day has been celebrated since 1911 in various ways and each year it explores a theme (#EmbraceEquity). The day signifies an opportunity to celebrate women’s accomplishments, learn something new, connect people, reflect on your own life and it remains a call to action. Joining the VIEW club Breakfast on March 10 will provide the opportunity for all of this.

The 2023 Fleurieu Women’s Community Awards are presented to raise awareness of the amazing contribution that women have to the region and what a difference one person can make to the people around her. The event and the awards give women a voice.

The breakfast will be a great event to watch the award recipients be announced, enjoy good food, hear a guest speaker, try your luck on the raffle, be in the running for a lucky door prize, and much more.

“The electorate of Finniss is a wonderful part of the world and the varied range of talented and hardworking people hidden amongst us all make it an amazing place to live – the awards can help us to celebrate this.”

“I encourage everyone to consider outstanding or inspirational women in the Fleurieu and nominate them! The form is not complex, and nominees will be acknowledged which could positively influence, even change, their life in a significant way. “

The categories include; Young female ambassador, Community volunteer and Inspirational business woman and help is needed with nominations. Please share the amazing people you know by nominating them.

“It is a pleasure to continue to work with the VH View Club to highlight the important roles women have in our local community. “

“Starting under the previous Member for Finniss, Michael Pengilly, this award event has been run for many years, and I proudly continue to support this important celebration. “
